Travel insurance is a unique product. Sold by airlines, cruise lines, travel agents, and by insurers online, travel protection is package of insurance coverage and non-insurance services. Travel protection is a complex product with limited regulatory oversight. Travel protection plans also have significant limitations that are likely to confuse consumers trying to make claim. In recent years, the travel industry has pushed for the adoption of state laws legalizing many unfair practices. The Center for Economic Justice has worked to improve the legal framework and consumer protections for travel insurance and travel protection plans, and to improve the transparency and accountability of travel protection providers to consumers and to insurance regulators.
